Registered Nurse - PACU (PreOp/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
Location: Greeley, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 27 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
Facility Type: Outpatient surgery center
Job Description
- Position involves working in PreOp and PACU areas.
- Specialty experience required in Orthopedics, Total Joint replacements, General Surgery, Ophthalmology (Eyes), and Gastrointestinal procedures.
- Leadership skills are desired.
- Clinician may be required to float within their scope to meet facility needs.
- No weekend shifts, no on-call, no night shifts required.
- Open to block scheduling depending on requested days.
- Scrubs are provided by the facility.
- Local candidates are accepted if within the same state.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in PreOp and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Specialty experience in Orthopedics, Total Joint replacements, General Surgery, Ophthalmology (Eyes), and Gastrointestinal (GI) procedures.
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency contact form prior to start.
- Background checks including:
- Standard 7-year search (locations lived/worked/school).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM verification (annual).
- HHS/OIG verification (annual).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year of start; if past positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year required.
- Immunization or titer proof for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31).
- Professional references:
- 2 for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles.
- 1 for per diem non-acute care roles.
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency.
- State license primary source online verification required.
Additional Information
- Charting system varies by site: some use electronic medical records (Epic Prisma), others use paper charting.
- Parking is free.
- Facility supplies scrubs to be changed into at the start of the shift and out of at the end.
Summary
This is a 6-month travel contract for an RN with specialty experience in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and related surgical areas, working day shifts in an outpatient surgery center. The role requires leadership skills, flexibility to float within scope, and compliance with comprehensive health, background, and certification requirements. No weekends, nights, or on-call duties are required.
