Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: La Plata, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 29, 2026
Shift: Days, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule: Self-scheduling, every other weekend required, holidays as scheduled
Patient Population: Medical/Surgical with multiple diagnoses including Pulmonary, Neurology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Renal, GU, Endocrine, Orthopedic
Unit Census: 30 beds, average daily census 30
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 or 1:6
Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • Employment and sanction screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start
    • Education verification for highest level of education
    • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually
    • Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year of start, must be medically cleared to wear 3M N95 1860 respirator
    • Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (declination accepted only for Hep B if low/equivocal titer)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap as required for unit
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-Apr)
    • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel plus Fentanyl) within 30-45 days prior to start
    • COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location; medical/religious exemptions accepted if required
  • References & Employment History:
    • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
    • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
    • Verification of previous 5 years of employment history

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of confidentiality agreements, corporate compliance, and computer system agreements prior to start
  • Photo for badge with specified background required
  • Completion of Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form if applicable
  • Security ID application within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Latex allergy questionnaire completion required
  • Additional facility-specific documents and attestations as required

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses on a telemetry unit
  • Maintain patient safety and adhere to required nurse-to-patient ratios
  • Participate in floating assignments within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
  • Work every other weekend and scheduled holidays
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to deliver quality patient care

This position offers a structured 13-week travel contract with day shifts on a telemetry/medical-surgical unit requiring a minimum of 1 year RN experience. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
