Description
Cardiac Sonographer - Contract Position
Location: Bozeman, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Perform daily adult cardiac ultrasound diagnostic procedures (echocardiography), including routine 2D echo, stress echo, pharmacological stress echo, transesophageal echo, and emergent echo. Prepare preliminary reports for cardiologist interpretation. Utilize advanced echo techniques such as 3D and strain imaging and ultrasound enhancing agents when needed. Provide coverage across multiple locations with variable shifts, weekends, and on-call as scheduled.
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Monday through Friday (Fridays required)
- 40 hours per week
- May require working beyond standard hours, weekends, and on-call coverage
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum 6 months (0.5 years) of cardiac sonographer experience within the last year
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of post-graduation experience in cardiac ultrasound
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Essential Job Functions
- Perform and interpret various echocardiography procedures according to standard practices
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, including cleaning and preventive maintenance
- Review patient history and clinical information to guide studies
- Prepare and document preliminary reports for cardiologist review
- Participate in professional education, lab meetings, quality improvement, and reaccreditation processes
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional judgment in a busy clinical environment
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting and fine finger movements (typing, handling equipment)
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching above shoulder level, pushing/pulling
- Rare lifting up to 30 pounds and climbing
- Continuous close visual acuity and cognitive skills for data analysis and decision-making
- Rare exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, and infectious diseases
Additional Information
- Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility to be considered
- Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
- Regular and sustained attendance required
