Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical with Telemetry monitoring
• Beds: 33 rooms, up to 49 patients (some semi-private rooms)
• Staff: 62 total

  • Day Shift: 2 charge nurses, 2 techs, 6-7 RNs
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1.5 techs, 5-6 RNs
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 (day), 5:1 (night)
• EMR System: Meditech
• Specialty Care: Surgical flap patients, spinal cord injury patients with stage 4 wounds, low acuity burn patients (in partnership with burn unit)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Current BLS certification
• De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
• Baxter Sigma Spectrum Pump training

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with spinal cord injury (SCI) patients
• ACLS certification

Typical Procedures

• Wound care
• Occasional bowel programs
• Light burn care

Work Environment & Culture

• Busy medical floor with a focus on patient care
• Staff experienced in specialty care for complex wound and burn patients
• Use of some semi-private rooms during high census (not preferred)
