Polysomnographer / Sleep Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Sylvania, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45 - 7:15)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Overview
- Float required between two metro facilities.
- Patient volume/load: 2-3 patients per night.
- Number of rooms: 9.
- Patient age groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics.
- Experience with polysomnography/sleep studies including:
- Adult and pediatric MWT & MSLT
- Mask fitting, titration, arousal scoring
- Complex sleep apnea, Cheyne-Stokes, hypopnea, periodic breathing
- PSG scoring including respiratory events, sleep stages, cardiac abnormalities, ECG, EEG, End-Tidal CO2, O2 saturation, periodic limb movement (PLM), respiratory inductance plethysmography (RIP), TCO2, hypoventilation
- Use of Natus Sleep Works equipment.
- Epic experience required.
- Scrub color: Black.
- Return to office (RTO) policy: Greater than 7 days off (including holidays) requires leadership approval.
- Unit accepts first-time travelers.
- No local travelers within 50 miles.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Polysomnographer, with experience within the last year.
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually.
- Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint results required within 12 months of start and updated annually if applicable.
- Education verification of highest level required.
- Professional references: 2 required within 2 years of start; at least 1 must be from a leader (Charge RN or above).
- Skills checklist required for all candidates.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam/physician statement within last 12 months (latex-free PPE available).
- N95 fit test required within 12 months of start and updated annually (onsite exceptions possible with approval).
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 3 months of start, updated annually. For positive TB history, negative chest X-ray within 5 years plus annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity (positive titer, vaccination, or approved exemption) required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted except for certain pediatric facilities)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31). Declinations not accepted during flu season. Masking required for exemptions.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable unless on prescription medications).
Competency Exams and Certifications
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Polysomnographer/Sleep Tech certification verification (RPSGT, RRT/SDS, or RST).
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (refer to unit job description).
Additional Notes
- Professional headshot and badge photo required for ID badge (plain background, no filters).
- Candidate must complete a time-sensitive agency form at least 10 days prior to start.
- Radiation badges issued by facility if applicable (not recruiter responsibility).
This position offers a specialized opportunity for experienced polysomnographers/sleep techs with a strong background in pediatric through geriatric sleep diagnostics, working night shifts on a travel contract basis in Ohio.
