Description

Registered Nurse - PCU (Carmel, Indiana)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Weekend work required
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
  • Block schedule accommodation to be discussed
  • First-time travelers limited: No more than 1 of 3 contracts; not generally accepted
  • Local candidates not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Indiana
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background Check within 90 days, including:
    • 7-year residential/work history verification
    • SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
    • Education Verification (highest applicable education)
    • International search if lived/worked outside the US in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Official Transcript or Diploma (clear copy) showing degree and graduation date; may be pending at start
  • Employment Application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
  • Skills Checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
  • Competency exams including Medication/Pharmacology and unit-specific competency exam
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, minimum 100% score)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators); on-site fit testing limited and requires approval
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (includes Amphetamines, Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, PCP)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations or history accepted
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended (preferred) but not required
  • Tuberculosis screening within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT); if positive, chest X-ray within 2 years required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31); declinations not accepted

  • Charge pay is offered for this position
  • On-call is not required
  • Facility-specific orientation and compliance forms must be completed as a priority prior to start
  • Self-study orientation and test required before start
  • Must comply with HIPAA and facility confidentiality agreements

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with PCU skills who are comfortable with weekend shifts, patient ratios of 1:4, and floating within their scope. First-time travel nurses are limited for this role.
