Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Start Date: Next applicable orientation date (3-4 weeks out)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 230
- Charting System: EPIC
- Parking: Free in unrestricted spaces
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Required Certifications
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) – must have at time of application
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – must have at time of application
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – must obtain prior to start
Licensure
- Valid Florida RN license or pending license accepted (pending license must be disclosed at submission)
On-Call Requirements
- Cardiac call required: 2-3 days per week, minimum 6 days per month (may increase to 10 if short staffed)
- Weekend shifts include 24-hour shifts (1 per weekday and 2 weekend shifts)
Scheduling & Locals
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Local nurses accepted at the same rate
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no annual update required)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved documentation)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Onboarding & Training
- Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory; modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG and Pharmacology administered during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
- Must complete orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA training
- Time-sensitive modules must be prioritized and completed without delay
Additional Requirements
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late requests are unlikely to be approved
- Two professional references required within 2 years of start date
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
- Performance evaluation on file required if candidate has worked with the agency for over 1 year
