Description
Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit
Location: Wynnewood, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: PCU/Stepdown
- Shift Pattern:
- 6 weeks straight days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Followed by 7 weeks straight nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36 (3 shifts of 12 hours)
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Floating: Required to float within scope to like units as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience managing drips including:
- Insulin
- Nicardipine
- Dexmedetomidine
- Nitroglycerin
Required Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Competencies & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 1 year of start)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam (within 1 year of start)
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara Color Vision Test accepted)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (diploma, degree, or transcripts)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- 3 professional references: most recent manager, previous manager, and one peer
- State-specific clearances for Pennsylvania including:
- Child Abuse Search
- Department of Aging Fingerprints
- Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results
- PATCH Search Results
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam or statement of good health within 1 year prior to assignment, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start, updated annually (specific approved masks required)
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot) within 6 months prior to start; PPD not accepted
- Annual TB questionnaire for positive TB test or in lieu of annual TB test renewal
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer)
- Rubella (1 MMR vaccine or positive IgG titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive IgG titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer + vaccine series or declination)
- 10-panel drug screen within 45 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept – April 1)
- Respirator clearance within 1 year prior to start, updated annually
