Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Weekend Requirement: 6 shifts in 6 weeks (every other weekend)
Patient Population: Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry only (no pediatric patients)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Successful completion of the EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam

Orientation & Training

• Weekly orientation prior to start
• Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) before hire date
• Annual safety manual acknowledgement required

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon, or T-spot) within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
• Immunization documentation or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
• Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
• N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances; positive results reviewed by Medical Review Officer
• Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including federal and state searches
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
• I9/E-Verify attestation required for all candidates

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
• Medication and pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years of start
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be current (within 1 year) and meet score requirements; annual renewal required
• Skills checklist and work history verification updated annually
• Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

Notes

• Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients or hold PALS certification for this assignment
• Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate (not included here)
• Extensions and recertifications may be required annually depending on facility policy
