Description
Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry
Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Weekend Requirement: 6 shifts in 6 weeks (every other weekend)
Patient Population: Adult Medical-Surgical Telemetry only (no pediatric patients)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Successful completion of the EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam
Orientation & Training
- Weekly orientation prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) before hire date
- Annual safety manual acknowledgement required
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon, or T-spot) within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
- Immunization documentation or titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances; positive results reviewed by Medical Review Officer
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including federal and state searches
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
- I9/E-Verify attestation required for all candidates
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years of start
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be current (within 1 year) and meet score requirements; annual renewal required
- Skills checklist and work history verification updated annually
- Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
Notes
- Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients or hold PALS certification for this assignment
- Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate (not included here)
- Extensions and recertifications may be required annually depending on facility policy
This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience seeking a 13-week travel contract on day shifts with weekend requirements in Maryland.
