Description

Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Willing to consider 5x8 hour shifts
  • No weekend requirement

Patient Care & Unit Details

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
  • Small clinic setting with 2 staffed beds (4 rooms)
  • Navy blue scrubs required (not provided)
  • Charting system: EPIC (experience required)

Required Skills & Responsibilities

  • Assist with central line insertion and management
  • Care and maintenance of implanted ports and PICC lines
  • Starting IVs
  • Infection prevention and isolation precautions
  • Pressure ulcer assessment and prevention

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
  • Proficient in central line insertion and management
  • Skilled in care and maintenance of implanted ports and PICC lines
  • Competent in starting IVs

Orientation & Work Environment

  • Orientation tailored to individual needs
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • No on-call duties
  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • Local candidates accepted

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Various health immunizations and screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles (valid for entire assignment)

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable)
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application required, including education verification
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Background check and fingerprinting processes are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to start
  • Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually

This position offers a focused clinical role in interventional radiology nursing with a supportive small team environment and requires strong clinical skills, independence, and adherence to facility compliance standards.
