Description
Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide care for admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department awaiting inpatient bed placement.
- Patient diagnoses will vary.
- Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:4-5.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Medication system: Pyxis.
- Scrubs: Any color allowed.
- Must be willing and able to accept assignments involving COVID-19 patients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in District of Columbia (pending accepted at time of submission but must be active before start date)
- Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam
Orientation
- Orientation dates available: July 13 or July 27
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state and federal searches.
- Drug Screen: Negative drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Health Documents:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- References: Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Work History: Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
Work Environment & Logistics
- Unit has approximately 40 rooms and 140 patient visits per day.
- Parking is available but at a cost.
Notes
- Must be able to float to units with equivalent or lower acuity.
- Must be willing to work with COVID-19 patients.
- Must provide proof of pending DC RN license at submission and have license active before start.
- Must complete facility-specific modules prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with strong telemetry and critical care skills who are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
