ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Willmar, Minnesota


Position Overview

  • Role: ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location: Willmar, Minnesota
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: ASAP, any Monday
  • Shifts:
    • Day: 06:45 AM – 07:15 PM (12-hour shift)
    • Night: 06:45 PM – 07:15 AM (12-hour shift)
  • Weekend Schedule: Every 3rd weekend
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Minnesota
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start, including:
    • 7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide
    • Education verification (diploma acceptable in lieu of third-party verification)
    • International searches if candidate has lived/worked outside the US
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG excluded provider checks required
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (no pending fingerprints allowed unless approved “more time needed” letter)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug test (9-panel) within 1 year of start (instant tests acceptable)
  • Two professional references from recent employers within 2 years

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Tdap vaccination required (no religious declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per Minnesota state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent within 90 days)
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination accepted
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required annually (mask required if declined)

Competency & Training

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required annually (not required for NICU RNs)
  • Other competency exams as applicable by profession, with minimum passing scores, updated annually
  • Facility-specific education modules (~16 hours) completed during orientation

Additional Facility Requirements

  • Photo for badge: grey background, no selfies, JPG format with name
  • Dress code adherence required
  • Confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start
  • Badge must be returned on last day of assignment

Notes

  • Candidates must complete Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint Questionnaire immediately after signing contract to proceed with fingerprinting
  • Fingerprint appointment must be completed within 2 weeks of registration
  • Candidates may need to travel to a location offering livescan fingerprinting if not available locally
  • COVID-19 vaccination exemption forms and processes exist but require additional steps and approvals (not detailed here)

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with solid critical care experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Minnesota with structured shifts and comprehensive compliance requirements.
