Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Home Health (Travel/Contract)

Location: Covington, Georgia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
Hours per Week: 40

Job Description

• Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
• Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
• Conduct home visits and attend periodic office meetings.
• Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
• Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic; daily travel approximately 30-40 miles.
• Documentation and charting using HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS systems required.
• On-call requirement: approximately 1 weekend per month (varies by location).
• Weekend work requirements vary; discuss during interview.
• Local candidates accepted within the same pay rate.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Home Health nursing, including experience within the last year.
• Experience working with adult patients in a Home Health setting.
• Hospice nursing experience.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS documentation systems.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks covering the last 7 years, including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test required.
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunization or titer proof for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and COVID-19 vaccination or declination.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination required.
• Education verification for nursing degree.
• Two professional references required.
• Work history verification for at least the last two employers or seven years.
• Various state-specific releases and attestations depending on placement location.
• Completion of agency-required compliance training, policy acknowledgments, confidentiality agreements, and quizzes prior to start.
• Personal or auto insurance policy under candidate’s name or listing candidate as a driver required for home health placements.

Additional Information

• Dress code: Scrubs.
• Guaranteed hours: No; if patient census is low, floating to nearby clinics may be discussed.
• Contract is primarily home visits but may include visits to care facilities.
• Contract may lead to permanent hire, but this is primarily a contract assignment.

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required; however, recent specialty experience is mandatory, and first-time travelers are not accepted.
