Description
Certified Surgical Technician (CST) - Traveler Position
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Start dates requested: July 27 or August 10.
- Standard contract length: 13 weeks.
- Work schedule: 4x10 or 4x12 hour shifts on Day/Evening rotation.
- Rotation plan: Travelers will try evening shifts initially; if skills align with needs, evenings become primary shift.
- Includes 2 weeks of night shifts per contract.
- Weekend shifts included, with 12-hour shifts on weekends and 8-10 hour shifts during the same week to meet contracted hours.
- Typical shift times:
- 4x10 evening shifts: 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- 4x10 day shifts:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Must have experience working in a high-capacity operating room.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from NBSTSA or NCCT.
- Minimum of 1 year of Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- Experience working in a high-capacity operating room.
Required Credentials and Compliance
- Photo ID: Recent (within 6 months) color photo with plain background, no filters or eyeglasses, symmetrical headshot.
- Fit Test: N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually; no exemptions allowed.
- Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation: Required if fit test is needed.
- Immunizations:
- Documentation of MMR vaccination (two measles, two mumps, one rubella) or two MMR vaccines, or proof of immunity via blood test.
- TB Testing:
- TB skin test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot blood test within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
- If positive TB test, chest x-ray documentation showing no active tuberculosis is required (optional but recommended).
- Health Statement: Physician statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months.
- Criminal Background Check: Within 45 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months; includes county and international residence/travel history for last 7 years.
- Massachusetts CORI Check: Within 30 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months.
- Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
- References: Two references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher in the skillset.
- Skills Checklist: Completed within 1 year of submission.
- Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form: Required for all initial assignments and extensions, updated if start date changes.
- Education Verification: Verified through background check company for highest level achieved.
- SSN Trace: Must be run with criminal check, covering last 7 years.
- National Sex Offender Check: Within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Exclusion Checks: Within 30 days of start and annually; includes OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid exclusion lists.
- Name Change Documentation: Required if legal name differs from credential documentation (optional).
- TB Symptom Survey: Required if positive PPD, updated annually (optional).
- Candidate Submission Coversheet: Required for initial assignment submissions.
Work Environment and Additional Information
- Shifts include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Rotation between day and evening shifts with some night shifts included.
- Must be adaptable to shift changes and weekend work.
- High-capacity operating room experience is essential.
