PACU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Akron, Ohio

Job Details

  • Position: PACU Registered Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
  • Location: Akron, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (40 hours/week)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Hours: 8 hours per day
  • On-Call: None
  • Patient Type: Outpatient surgical recovery (joint, hand, general surgery, urology, endoscopy, orthopedic procedures)
  • Discharge: Patients discharged home same day; possibility to stay over if patient not ready for discharge

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
  • At least 18 months of total travel nursing experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Health & Compliance Documents

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check (including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting)
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting completed within 12 months and updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform job functions safely
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations with official documentation:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually; no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video training must be watched before testing)
  • Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation (SafeMedicate and ECG tests) required at orientation
  • Two professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application including at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
  • Annual skills checklist and core competency training required
  • Fingerprinting attestation and compliance with state-specific fingerprinting requirements
  • Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
