IR Technologist (Interventional Radiology) – Wisconsin, Marshfield
Job Details
- Specialty: Interventional Radiology / Vascular Tech
- Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 4 ten-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), rotating day off
- Call: Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call rotation
- Call frequency: approximately once every 3 weekdays and once every 3 weekends (Friday through Monday)
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Floating: Hybrid for vascular cases
Department & Work Environment
- 7 procedure rooms total (4 Cath Lab/EP & 3 IR/Vascular)
- Average 20+ cases per day across all rooms
- Common procedures include:
- IR: Port placements, liver biopsy, IVC placements, G-tube placements, PICC & central line placements, neuro interventions (coiling, thrombectomy, embolizations)
- Vascular: Femoral-popliteal bypass, AAA repair, carotid procedures, EVAR, angiograms, and more
- Staffing example: IR team typically includes 1 RN, 2 techs, with anesthesia support for neuro cases
- Orientation: 2-3 full days of training/shadowing, buddy call first two weeks (no call first week, buddy call second week)
Job Duties
- Prepare procedure suites and ensure radiation safety setup
- Calibrate and troubleshoot fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Pull supplies, set up sterile tables
- Scrub in and assist physicians with procedures including device exchange, guidewire manipulation, catheter placement, balloon and stent deployment
- Manage radiation dose and imaging angles
- Clean, restock, and turnover rooms
- Perform sheath removals
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA)
- Must not have worked at this facility within the last 6 months prior to submission
- Must clock in and out at the facility

- EMR: Merge, Cerner
- Imaging equipment: Siemens
Additional Information
- Scrubs provided; clinicians may wear their own scrub caps
- Manager/Charge Nurse: Team leads handle scheduling and staffing
- Cardiologist coverage includes 1 RN and 3 techs; STEMI call team consists of 1 RN and 3 techs
This position offers a structured schedule with a mix of procedural variety in IR and vascular cases, requiring solid IR experience and certifications, plus flexibility for call coverage.
