Description

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / ED

Location: Hillsboro, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Assignment Length: Minimum 13 weeks (negotiable)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on both Medical Surgical and Emergency Department units.
  • Must be able to manage patient load on the floor and handle ER patients.
  • Experience in both Med Surg and ED required.
  • Open to nurses with 1 year of experience and first-time travelers.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse license valid in Kansas.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not mandatory.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas.
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID.
  • Background checks including SS trace, county searches (last 7 years), nationwide, and sex offender registry.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start.
  • Primary source verification of nursing license.
  • National certification verification as applicable.
  • Signed orientation and safety manual acknowledgment.
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including confidentiality, HIPAA, and computer use agreements.
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
  • N95 Fit Test within 1 year prior to start (including mask model and size).
  • Immunizations and/or titers for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if positive.
  • Annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
  • Drug screening within 12 months prior to start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (Oct-April).
  • COVID vaccination, declination, or exemption (boosters not required).
  • Two professional references within 3 years.
  • Completion of skills checklist.

Additional Notes

  • Blocked scheduling (grouped shifts) may be accommodated when possible.
  • Start date is ASAP.
