Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 48 hours per week)
- Call/Float: No call or float required
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse in Operating Room
- Case Experience Required:
- Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Gynecology, General Surgery, Bariatrics, Podiatry, Urology
- Some experience with vascular, ENT, breast/plastics cases preferred
- Priority given to Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Podiatry, and Cystoscopy cases
- Special Equipment Experience:
- Cell Saver, Rapid Transfusion, ACT, Glucometer, Mako, Stealth, Holmium/Lumenis Laser, DaVinci Robot
- EMR/Systems: EPIC, SBAR (transitioning to Omnicell)
- Patient Age Groups: Newborn/Neonate through Elderly
- Surgical Procedures: General Surgery, Laparoscopic, Gynecology, GU, Orthopedic, Neuro/Spine, Craniotomy, Trauma, Plastics, Procurement, ENT, Oral/Dental, Thoracic, Vascular, Endovascular, Endoscopy
- Exclusions: No transplant or open heart/interventional cases
- Additional Note: Candidates who have ever been employed by the associated health system are not eligible
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with adolescent, adult, infant, neonate, or pediatric patients
- Clinical experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN), Bariatrics, and Urology
Background and Screening Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start including:
- Social Security Verification
- National Sex Offender Registry
- National Criminal Search
- FACIS Level 3
- Education Verification
- Criminal county/state searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police search required)
- Motor Vehicle Background Check (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 14 days prior to start (no exceptions)
- Social Security verification within 30 days of start
- Education verification required (High School acceptable for CNAs)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references within last 3 years, including one supervisor reference
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Annual fit mask test (N95 or equivalent masks) required for clinical candidates
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years required (titers not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start (2-step PPD, Qgold, or Tspot accepted)
- TB Questionnaire required for all travelers
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
- Varicella (history of disease not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during October 31 - April 1 period; exemptions allowed with approved documentation
- Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required prior to start
Additional Facility Requirements
- Passport-style photo (jpeg) for badge
- Proof of auto insurance required if driving to patient homes (Home Health/Hospice)
- Compliance attestation required for clearance
- Various state-specific releases and authorizations required (e.g., NH Statewide Release, SSA Release)
- Background and credential documents must be uploaded with appropriate expiration dates (some with extended expiration to avoid annual renewals)
Important Notes
- Must add time to end of contract to make up for any Return to Office (RTO) time if applicable
- Prior travel experience is not required for this assignment
- Candidates must pass all required competency exams within specified timeframes or risk cancellation
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines require facility-specific waiver forms and approval
- Candidates cannot start with pending drug screens or background checks (except certain NH county searches)
This position offers a challenging and diverse surgical nursing experience in a well-equipped operating room environment with a focus on orthopedic and neurological cases. It is ideal for RNs with at least one year of OR experience seeking a travel contract in New Hampshire.
