Description
Job Opportunity: Polysomnographer / Sleep Tech
Location
- Livingston, New Jersey
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Night shifts, 3 shifts per week
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
- 37.5 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must be available for 2 out of 3 holidays
Required Experience
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics or related specialty
Required Certifications and Licenses
- NJ Sleep License required (candidates nearing completion of licensing process may be considered; process takes 6-8 weeks)
- RPSGT or RST certification required
- If RRT, SDS certification preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Clinical Skills and Procedures
- Experience with polysomnography studies, titration, BiLevel, and SPLIT studies
- Familiarity with Natus software for data collection
- Charting experience with Epic system
- Typical caseload: 2 patients per shift
Additional Requirements
- Scrub color: Grey
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation with application
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and driver's license required within 48 hours of signing
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
- Employment verification covering 7 years of work history, with at least 1 year verified for New Jersey candidates
- Two professional references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Completion of facility-specific floating policy for every new assignment
Health and Safety Requirements
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start; must be updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes; additional clearance if history of positive TB
- Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Compliance with latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable
- Fit test questionnaire must be submitted within 48 hours of confirmation
- Color vision testing required if job tasks involve color discrimination
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 72 hours of signing
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of signing
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation policy
- Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgement required prior to start
- Proof of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training required
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, and others are not required for this role
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Polysomnographer license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of Polysomnographer experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
