Registered Nurse (RN) - Dialysis (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide dialysis nursing care including inpatient dialysis patients.
• Patient types include remote telemetry, ICU patients, dialysis patients with Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
• Patient ratio: 2:1
• Equipment used: Fresenius 2008T hemodialysis machines, Baxter Homechoice Claria peritoneal dialysis.
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the area.
• Work schedule: Days shift.
• Orientation provided (starting date specified).
• Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC.

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Minimum 24 months of dialysis nursing experience, including inpatient dialysis experience.
• Experience with tele reads and measurements.
• Experience using Fresenius dialysis machines.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Skills checklist specific to dialysis discipline.
• No first-time travelers; prior travel experience required.

• Work history and resume must clearly document 24 months of current dialysis experience.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months are preferred.
• Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply (details not included here).

• Scrubs color: Navy blue solids.

Patient Care Environment

• Dialysis care includes both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis (preferred).
• Bed size varies by campus (5 beds at one campus, 2 beds at another).
• Patient acuity includes ICU and telemetry monitoring.
