Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 37.5
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in adult medical oncology including GI, GU, Breast, Head and Neck, Neuro, Thoracic, Lymphoma, Leukemia.
- Care for GYN oncology patients and classic hematology cases (Sickle cell, anemia, factor 8 deficiency, ITP).
- Perform bone marrow biopsies in clinic.
- Conduct GYN oncology procedures such as pap smears, biopsies, colposcopies, and pelvic exams.
- Skilled in accessing ports, central line blood draws, administering Neupogen, hormonal therapy, and colostomy care.
- Charting experience required using Epic electronic medical record system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- IV Certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start; additional clearance required for history of positive TB.
- Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Drug screen (10-panel urine) within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- Fit testing for respirators (N-95) and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start and annually.
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire if job tasks require glove use.
- Color vision test if job tasks require color discrimination.
Compliance and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license required within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions must be completed within 30 days of start.
- Must complete facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment for each new assignment.
- Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required prior to start and annually.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams with remediation process; failure after 3 attempts results in cancellation.
- Required to complete OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training.

- Epic charting experience is mandatory.
