Description
Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 37.5
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in adult medical oncology including GI, GU, Breast, Head and Neck, Neuro, Thoracic, Lymphoma, Leukemia.
- Care for GYN oncology and classic hematology patients (Sickle cell, anemia, factor 8 deficiency, ITP).
- Perform bone marrow biopsies in clinic.
- Conduct GYN oncology procedures such as pap smears, biopsies, colposcopies, and pelvic exams.
- Manage accessing ports, central line blood draws, administration of Neupogen, hormonal therapy, and colostomy care.
- Charting and documentation using Epic electronic health record system (experience required).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license (must match RN license name).
- Employment eligibility verification (E-Verify).
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-jurisdictional searches. No open cases allowed.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start; additional clearance if history of positive TB.
- Physical exam within 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start.
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- Immunization or immunity proof for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
- Completion of required competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia as applicable.
- Color blindness exam if job tasks require color discrimination.
- Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation requirements.
- References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history and verification of at least 1 year prior work history (New Jersey state requirement).
Additional Requirements
- Completion of safety and compliance training including OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing for clinical competencies (medication, EKG, IV therapy).
- Adherence to facility floating policy for new assignments or site transfers.
- Timely submission of all required documents, including personal information sheets and attestation forms.
