Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a Neurovascular Interventional Radiology (IR) lab focused on advanced neurovascular procedures.
- Patient diagnoses include intracranial aneurysms, AVMs, carotid stenosis, large vessel occlusions, kyphoplasty, and hybrid intracranial aneurysm clippings.
- Utilize specialized equipment including 2 biplane Siemens ICONO suites, Fuji Synapse PACS, Brainlab, and EPIC Dimensions.
- Patient ratio is 1:1.
- Shift schedule: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (06:30 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Call requirement: 1 night on a weekend and every 4th weekend.
- Weekend coverage includes Friday 5 PM through Monday 6:30 AM.
- Float requirement: None.
- Orientation: 2 weeks (80 hours).
- Scrubs provided.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
- Experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist within the last year
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-4 years of neurovascular experience preferred.
- ARRT VI certification preferred.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- ARRT certification relevant to Radiology specialty.
- BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross accepted).
Patient Care Environment & Systems
- Neurovascular IR lab only.
- Documentation and medication systems: EPIC & Pyxis.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree related to profession.
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required.
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training required within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or declination form), and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
- TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start required.
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required; exemptions require mask wearing on campus.
Orientation & Training Requirements
- Completion of Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist (for North Carolina travel candidates).
- Completion of Medication Safety training module with certificate submission.
- Completion of annual compliance training and facility-specific education modules as required.
- EPIC training: 8-hour EPIC Dimensions course required; optional test-out available for experienced users (not available at this facility).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of start with a minimum passing score of 82%.
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification).
Documentation & Administrative Requirements
- Employment application must be uploaded.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years for travel and acute care allied candidates.
- Confidentiality agreement, tobacco-free campus acknowledgement, hospital policies, and other facility-specific documents must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Candidate must complete Corp ID setup and log into I-Learn within 24 hours of receiving credentials.
- Passport-style photo on white background required immediately after signing contract for badge creation.
Additional Notes
- No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Radiation badge required for interventional radiology techs and related roles; arranged by agency for travel candidates.
- Minor traffic violations do not require approval; DUIs are excluded.
