Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Olney, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in the Emergency Room (ER) setting for both adult and pediatric patients.
- Must have general ED experience with both adult and pediatric populations.
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients in the ED setting.
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
- Successful completion of background checks including criminal, education verification, and drug screening within 90 days of start.
- I9/E-Verify attestation required.
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunization and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing with minimum passing scores.
References and Work History
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, preferably the most recent 2 years.
Additional Notes
- This is a night shift travel contract position in the Emergency Room.
- Candidates local within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate (not disclosed here).
- Candidates must be prepared for a rigorous credentialing and compliance process prior to start.
