Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Backfill travel assignment in a hospital OR setting with a focus on neurosurgery.
- Shift options include 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) on Monday, Thursday, Friday or 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM) Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
- Weekend shifts may be required (to be discussed during interview).
- Floating as needed per unit policy.
Unit Details
- Surgical unit with 17 beds including Cardiovascular OR and Transplant cases.
- Not a leveled trauma center.
- Patient ratio: 1:1 in OR nursing.
- Support staff includes 1-2 surgical techs per case.
- Equipment includes DaVinci XI, Globus, Mako robots, microscopes, and standard OR tools.
- Documentation system: Meditech.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an acute care setting
- Neurosurgery experience
Preferred Skills
- Experience with robotic surgery.
- Familiarity with Meditech documentation system.
Procedures Performed
- High volume of general surgery, neurosurgery (including craniotomies), orthopedic, robotic-assisted surgeries, some urology, plastic surgery, heart, and transplant procedures.
Professional Appearance and Conduct
- Facility provides scrubs; specific scrub colors required.
- Nail policy: clean, healthy nails; no gel or artificial nails; nails no longer than ¼ inch beyond fingertips.
- Hair must be neat, clean, and natural in style and color.
- Facial hair must be clean and neatly trimmed.
- Tattoos should be covered whenever possible; uncovered tattoos addressed individually.
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited.
