Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: McKinney, Texas

Unit Information

• Emergency Department with 37 beds, Level 2 Trauma designation
• Staff includes 73 full-time equivalents (FTE)
• Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 7 RNs, 2 techs/paramedics, plus 5 mid-shift RNs and 2 mid-shift techs
• Night Shift: Same staffing pattern as day shift
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients in zone
• Equipment: GE Monitors
• Electronic Medical Record system: MediTech

Job Description

• Immediate start needed
• Candidates must be willing to occasionally work varying day to mid shifts (start times around 6a, 9a, 10a, or 11a)
• Time off requests from mid-June to July cannot be approved
• Floating to hospital holding area for admitted ED patients may be required
• Dress code: Royal blue scrubs (top and bottom)
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in 4 weeks; no on-call

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
