Respiratory Therapist - Days (Cardiopulmonary Specialty)
Location: Craig, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift

Job Summary
Provide safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians, focusing on specialty areas including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. Responsibilities include monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, blood work interpretation, teaching, and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver all respiratory care procedures per department policies.
- Verify physician orders and maintain accurate documentation.
- Prepare and give patient reports at specified times.
- Participate in department in-services, meetings, and patient care rounds.
- Monitor workload and patient acuity, reporting changes to supervisor.
- Perform data entry for daily services and patient charges.
- Operate and troubleshoot respiratory care instruments and equipment.
- Manage airway effectively, including bag/mask ventilation and suction techniques.
- Assist physicians with intubation.
- Perform arterial blood gas draws.
- Initiate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
- Interpret ventilator flow volumes and pressure volume curves to guide clinical changes.
- Translate medication dosages appropriately for neonatal and pediatric patients.
- Assess respiratory status and recommend therapeutic interventions.
- Assist in orientation and training of new employees and students.
- Comply with personal protective equipment and infection control standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safety and risk management procedures.
- Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Colorado
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year
Education, Licensure, and Certifications
- Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care Program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential per NBRC guidelines.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
