MRI Technologist - Cary, NC

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for patient safety and performing high-quality MRI studies across various body areas, including advanced imaging. The role involves effective communication with patients and radiologists, troubleshooting MRI equipment, and occasionally training new technologists or patient coordinators.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MRI and related imaging equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images.
• Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address concerns with tact and courtesy.
• Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection techniques.
• Communicate effectively with radiologists and other healthcare team members.
• Train and provide oversight to new technologists and patient coordinators.
• Troubleshoot MRI scanners and peripheral equipment to prevent downtime; escalate complex issues as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• ARRT(MR) certification required.
• Venipuncture certification required.
• BLS CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Valid state driver’s license and state license as applicable.
• Minimum of 2 years MRI experience preferred, especially in high-volume environments.
• Proficiency in running advanced MRI studies independently.
• Experience with Siemens Lumina, Altea, and Espree units (1.5T and 3T) with XA60 software and B19 syngo.
• Recent experience with EPIC system required.
• Ability to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.
• Strong patient care skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly.
• Local travel may be required.
