Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: July 7, 2026
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Travel Distance Requirement: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility
First Time Travelers: Accepted
On-Call/Weekend: 1 call per week and 1 weekend per month

Job Description

• Work in a surgical services environment with 23 operating rooms and 1 procedure room.
• Support elective and emergency surgeries for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Exposure to a variety of surgical specialties.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience.
• Recent experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist within the last year.

Certifications (As Required by Unit)

• ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
• BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
• PALS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)

Health and Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or TB questionnaire as applicable)
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (documentation deadline December 3)
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 references within 3 years required for direct hire candidates.
• Employment application and skills checklist required.
• Work history verification of at least 2 past employments required for direct hire candidates.
• Color blindness testing required (not annually).
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and parking pass form required.
