Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location

Unit Information
- Unit: Labor & Delivery
- Beds: 15 labor beds, 3 OR suites, 4 triage beds, 3 Preop/PACU beds
- Staff: 55 total (30 day shift, 25 night shift)
- Patient Ratios:
- 2:1 standard
- 1:1 when patient is on Pitocin
- 3-4:1 in Antepartum Unit (APU) and Triage
- Equipment used: EFM with Toco, Ultrasound, Pulse oximetry, Blood pressure cables, NOVI
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
- Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs required
Typical Procedures Performed
- Cesarean sections (C-sections)
- Cerclage placement and removal
- Intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) use
- Fetal scalp electrode (FSE) application
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- HHCCA - De-escalation Skills in Healthcare Setting
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Additional Notes
- Candidates without the required certifications will not be considered.
- Preferred qualifications (not required): BSN degree, RNC-OB certification, C-EFM certification.
