Registered Nurse (Surgery) - Travel Assignment
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (5 days/week, 8 hours/day, 06:30 - 15:30)

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the age and needs of the patient population on assigned units. Ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards. Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Obtain and record initial patient assessments; prioritize based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Systematically reassess patients to monitor progress and identify intervention needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care within established nursing standards.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans based on patient outcomes.
- Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
- Perform Point of Care testing procedures and document timely interventions.
Staff and Teamwork
- Use effective communication strategies to achieve intended outcomes.
- Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
- Follow appropriate chain of command to resolve issues.
- Participate in orientation of new staff and students.
- Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff.
- Promote a positive, professional, and supportive work environment.
- Collaborate to achieve unit and organizational goals.
Customer Relations
- Exhibit behaviors that foster high patient/customer satisfaction and respect for rights and confidentiality.
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Maintain the hospital’s credibility, integrity, and positive image.
- Support the mission, goals, and continuous improvement efforts of the organization.

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year.
- Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
