Emergency Department RN
Location: Lawton, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7p-7a)
Job Overview
Provide high-quality, compassionate, and timely care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, 36-bed Emergency Department serving approximately 59,000 patients annually. Responsibilities include rapid assessment, prioritization, intervention, and evaluation of patients with emergent, urgent, or non-urgent conditions. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive and focused patient assessments.
- Triage patients using evidence-based protocols to determine acuity and initiate care.
- Provide rapid intervention and stabilization for medical, surgical, traumatic, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per provider orders and hospital policy.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and point-of-care testing devices.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, and other healthcare team members.
- Coordinate patient care including diagnostic testing, re-evaluation, disposition planning, and patient education.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in rapid response, trauma activations, code blue, stroke, and STEMI protocols.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, safety guidelines, and hospital standards.
- Support a culture of empathy, patient-centered care, and service excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certifications (preferred within a timeframe after hire).

- Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Competency in trauma care, cardiac care, and stabilizing critically ill patients.
- Ability to remain calm and focused during high-stress situations.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department with 36 beds.
- Frequent exposure to trauma and critical illness.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, and performing physical tasks throughout the shift.
