Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Weekend Requirement: None
  • On Call: No
  • Floating: Required per facility policy; may float to other units/campuses based on census and only to units where qualified and trained
  • Charting System: Epic experience required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
  • 1 year accepted if full-time experience at a Level 1 trauma and Children’s Hospital with demonstrated OR and Fluoroscopic study experience
  • Experience in acute care imaging including ER, ICU, NICU, PICU, and OR
  • Skilled in bedside/portable X-ray, trauma imaging, C-arm procedures, and fluoroscopic studies (e.g., barium swallow, esophagram)
  • Ability to perform all aspects of X-ray independently and adapt to equipment-specific training

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ARRT (R) certification
  • BLS certification
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • X-Ray Technician experience
  • Experience with Epic

Candidate Requirements

  • Prior Travel Experience: Not accepting first-time travelers
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, subject to radius rule criteria
  • Call Off Policy: Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start required
    • Includes social security trace, alias searches, state and county searches for all states/counties lived or worked in last 7 years
    • Federal and international searches as applicable
    • FACIS Level 3 and sex offender checks required
    • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., WV residents)
  • Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
    • Immunizations and/or titers for TB, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap as required
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required
  • Competency and Training:
    • Must complete annual Core Parts I, II, and III training (including OSHA, patient safety, cultural diversity, etc.)
    • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
    • Facility-specific online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
    • Pre-assignment testing (medication and EKG/arrhythmia tests) required with 2 attempts allowed
  • Photo ID: Passport-style badge photo required with specific background and quality standards

Skills Summary

  • Proficient in acute care imaging environments including emergency and critical care units
  • Experienced in trauma imaging and fluoroscopic procedures
  • Able to work independently and adapt to different imaging equipment
  • Comfortable floating to other qualified units as needed

Additional Notes

  • All scheduling requests must be submitted with application and are subject to facility approval
  • Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access and on-duty identification
  • Facility is a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 641 licensed beds
  • No pending licenses or background checks accepted; all verifications must be current and complete prior to start
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements

This position is ideal for experienced X-Ray Technologists with acute care and trauma imaging expertise who are ready for a travel contract in South Carolina.
