Description

Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (subject to change)
  • Float: Required as needed
  • Patient Diagnoses:
    • Coronary Artery Disease post-Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CAD S/P CABG)
    • Cardiac Valve Repair
    • Lung Cancer post-Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
    • Esophageal Cancer
  • Special Procedures & Skills:
    • Must pass EKG exam prior to start
    • Experience with post-surgical cardiovascular patients
    • Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips required
    • Medication system used: Omnicell
    • 1 year of EPIC electronic health record experience required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 3 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start date
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
    • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., residency requirements)
  • Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements
  • Physical Exam: Physician’s statement within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Health Documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years if working in high-risk areas
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required (not required for remote workers)
    • Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment (approx. 12 hours) is mandatory before starting onsite
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite after module completion
  • Annual core competencies and training required, including:
    • Universal precautions
    • Cultural diversity
    • Pain management
    • Advanced directives
    • Harassment prevention
    • Fire safety
    • Back safety/ergonomics
    • Patient rights and ethics
    • OSHA blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials training
    • Age-specific care competence
    • TJC National Patient Safety Goals

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup and while on duty
  • Floating policy must be signed and is required for clinical staff
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but first-time travelers must have 3 years specialty experience
  • Medication and arrhythmia exams are time-sensitive with only two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
  • Candidates should be prepared to complete all required testing and documentation promptly to avoid delays

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, post-surgical cardiac care, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
