Description

Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (may change based on need)
  • Float: Required if needed
  • Medication System: Omnicell
  • Patient Diagnoses:
    • Coronary Artery Disease post-CABG
    • Cardiac Valve Repair
    • Lung Cancer post-VATS
    • Esophageal Cancer
  • Special Procedures:
    • Must pass EKG exam pre-start
    • Experience with post-surgical cardiovascular patients
    • Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG and Medication exams) required prior to orientation
  • Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips
  • Experience with post-surgical cardiovascular patients
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
    • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., residency requirements)
  • Education Verification: Highest level required, no diplomas as placeholders
  • Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
    • Immunizations/vaccinations or titers for:
      • TB (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
      • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
      • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
      • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (current within 10 years for high-risk areas)
      • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (required by deadlines)
  • Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Orientation & Testing

  • Online Cornerstone Modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required before start
  • Pass/Fail Testing:
    • Medication and Arrhythmia exams required for all RN candidates (except prebook or non-clinical)
    • Two attempts allowed; passing score 84%
    • Testing completed prior to orientation
  • EKG Exam: Required pre-start for this role
  • Badge Photo: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements needed before start

Additional Notes

  • Floating policy must be signed and is required for clinical candidates
  • Candidates must carry a valid Driver’s License/State ID on duty for computer access setup
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but 3 years specialty experience is mandatory for first-time travelers
  • Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced cardiac telemetry environment with post-surgical cardiovascular patients and complex drip management

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts and complex cardiac care in a travel/contract role.
