Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Somerville, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Unit: Labor & Delivery with OB Triage, Antepartum, and Delivery care for pregnancies 32 weeks and above
  • Unit Size: 12 beds, 11 rooms
  • Floating: Required to float to Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • On-Call: 24 hours every 4 weeks
  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
  • Block Scheduling: Not considered
  • Technology: Novii fetal monitoring system, EPIC charting system
  • Parking: Free in any unrestricted space
  • Scrub Color: Provided

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Intermediate AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
    • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
    • IV Certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and for every contract renewal
    • New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List check within 30 days of start and for extensions
  • Health Documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
    • Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
    • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
    • Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
    • Fit test and Respiratory Medical Clearance prior to start (mandatory on-site fit testing)
    • Latex allergy screening questionnaire if job tasks require glove use
    • Color blindness exam if job tasks require color discrimination
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing, required within 12 months of start
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 72 hours of signing, required within 12 months of start
    • IV Therapy/Infusion exam within 72 hours of signing, required within 12 months of start (not required for OR RNs)
  • Orientation and Training:
    • Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)
    • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams with remediation policy
    • Vendor-specific medical clearance forms if applicable
  • References and Work History:
    • Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
    • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
    • Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start, allowing 30-day gaps or less)
  • Other:
    • Driver’s license/state ID required within 48 hours of signing
    • E-Verify clearance required
