OR Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota

Job Details

• Location: Aberdeen, South Dakota
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 8-hour shifts, full time (64-80 hours per pay period)
• Call Rotation: 1-2 days per week, every 2nd-4th weekend, rotating holidays
• Work Environment:

  • 4 OR Suites, 1 Procedure Room, 8 PACU Bays, 18 Patient Center Rooms
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 in OR; 1:1 to 1:4 in Patient Center; 2:1 in PACU
  • Potential to float within peri-operative department including Patient Center (pre-op, post-op, outpatient services) and PACU

Job Responsibilities

• Circulate surgery cases and assist with pulling and prepping for surgery
• Work from a preference card system
• Set up, clean, and turnover OR rooms
• Maintain strong organizational and note-taking skills
• Surgical specialties include general, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics

Equipment and Systems

• Computer charting via Epic system
• Medication management using Pyxis system and Pharmacy
• Surgical equipment such as arthroscopic pumps and shavers, cautery machines, laser, fracture table, C-arm x-ray

Orientation and Training

• Initial department and general hospital orientation upon arrival
• Short orientation on equipment, supplies, and workflow
• In-depth training on unfamiliar equipment or supplies as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Dakota
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Local placements within 80 miles available
• Prior employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
