Special Procedures Tech - Radiology

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Interventional Radiology (IR) unit with 2 single plane (GE) and 2 biplane (Philips) rooms, plus one Invasive CT scanner.
  • Patient ratio is 1:1 with nursing support in each room.
  • Day shift staffing: 2 techs and 1 nurse per room.
  • Night shift staffing: 1 tech and 1 RN onsite.
  • Use Cerner (Radnet) EMR system.

Typical Procedures

  • Dialysis-related procedures (Permcaths, fistulagrams)
  • Nephrostomy tubes
  • Arteriograms/embolizations
  • Y-90 treatments
  • G-tube placements
  • TIPS procedures
  • Inari cases
  • Cerebral arteriograms, coilings, pipelines
  • Mechanical thrombectomies
  • Vertebroplasties

Required Qualifications

  • Special Procedures Technologist with 2+ years of experience, including experience within the last year
  • ARRT Certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • Moderate sedation experience
  • Cath Lab Technologist experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vascular OR experience.
  • Cath Lab experience.
  • VI Registered (Vascular Interventional Registered) preferred.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • 36 hours per week.
  • Every 7th weekend required.
  • One night secondary on-call during the week.
  • Flexible, team-oriented personality preferred.
  • Hospital provides scrub attire.

Additional Information

  • Unit has approximately 15 techs, a manager, and a Data/Quality Analyst.
  • Floating area includes Vascular OR (VOR).
