Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Shift: Night shift, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend maximum, potentially every third weekend
- Floating: Required to float between two hospital campuses as needed (within scope of practice)
- On-call: Not required
- Block Scheduling: Attempts to accommodate but not guaranteed
- Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Minnesota
- Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2 years of experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification issued by American Heart Association or American Academy of Pediatrics
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy including:
- Patient assessment and education
- Invasive and non-invasive ventilation management
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis
- CPR and inhaled medication administration
- Complex oxygen therapy
- Airway clearance and lung inflation techniques
- Bedside spirometry
- Neonatal care including NICU bCPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), and mechanical ventilation for newborns >30 weeks gestational age
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 1 year of start date (7-year statewide MN search required)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
- Fingerprinting:
- Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire must be completed immediately after contract signing
- Candidates cannot start without fingerprint clearance or approved exemption
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and Health Screenings:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine required after age 11; exemptions accepted with restrictions
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (or acceptable history)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required; no exemptions for patient-facing roles
- Hepatitis B: Proof of immunity or vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination series; no exemptions accepted
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required for 2025-2026 season; declinations accepted
- Drug Testing: Not required for client clearance but must be within 1 year if done
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: OSHA clearance required prior to start for fit testing
Training and Documentation
- Completion of facility-specific preorientation online modules within 72 hours of login (approx. 5.5 hours for RRT)
- Skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams required annually
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of contract signing
Additional Notes
- Parking: No fees
- Charting system: Epic (Excellian)
- Scrub color: Olive Green
- Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum
- References: Not required for client clearance and will not delay start
This position offers a travel contract opportunity for experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists seeking night shifts in a teaching hospital environment with a Level 2 trauma designation. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, and health requirements to be eligible.
