Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Position Details

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Shift: Night shift, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend maximum, potentially every third weekend
• Floating: Required to float between two hospital campuses as needed (within scope of practice)
• On-call: Not required
• Block Scheduling: Attempts to accommodate but not guaranteed
• Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Minnesota
• Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2 years of experience
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP certification issued by American Heart Association or American Academy of Pediatrics

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy including:

  • Patient assessment and education
  • Invasive and non-invasive ventilation management
  • Arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis
  • CPR and inhaled medication administration
  • Complex oxygen therapy
  • Airway clearance and lung inflation techniques
  • Bedside spirometry
• Neonatal care including NICU bCPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), and mechanical ventilation for newborns >30 weeks gestational age

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start date (7-year statewide MN search required)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
• Fingerprinting:

  • Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire must be completed immediately after contract signing
  • Candidates cannot start without fingerprint clearance or approved exemption
• Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations and Health Screenings:

  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine required after age 11; exemptions accepted with restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (or acceptable history)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required; no exemptions for patient-facing roles
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of immunity or vaccination series or signed declination
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination series; no exemptions accepted
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required for 2025-2026 season; declinations accepted
• Drug Testing: Not required for client clearance but must be within 1 year if done
• Respiratory Safety Clearance: OSHA clearance required prior to start for fit testing

Training and Documentation

• Completion of facility-specific preorientation online modules within 72 hours of login (approx. 5.5 hours for RRT)
• Skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams required annually
• Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of contract signing

• Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum
• References: Not required for client clearance and will not delay start
