Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job – Supply, North Carolina
Job Summary
- Position: Radiation Therapist
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Location: Supply, NC
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Options:
- 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, occasionally 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM with 30-minute lunch)
- Hours per week: 40
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Call Requirement: None
- Weekend Requirement: None
- Floating: Required between two clinical sites within a 30-minute drive
- Storm/Hurricane Team: Contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
Job Details
- No orientation or dimensions training required; can start directly in the clinic
- Traveler will float between two sites with Varian linacs and CT simulators
- Therapists always work paired with at least one other therapist; no solo work
- Not expected to perform block cutting, CT simulations alone, or dose calculations
- Use of systems: ARIA, Pinnacle (Philips), Eclipse (Varian), Varian 21 ex/ix
- Skills include: Adult Acute Care, CT Simulation, Custom Molds/Shield, MRI, PET Scan, Tumor Localization, Beam Modifying/Positioning, CBCT/kV/mV imaging, Wedges, Radiation Safety, Use of Rapid Response/Code teams, Simulation of Treatment Sites, External Beam Therapy, IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy), Lift/transfer devices, Isolation Precautions
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) – Radiation Therapy specialty (ARRT T)
- Experience with CT Simulation
- Experience with Custom Molds and Custom Shields
- Experience with MRI and PET Scan
- Proficient in Tumor Localization
- Skilled in Beam Modifying and Positioning
- Experience with Block Cutting
- Proficient in CBCT/kV/mV imaging
- Experience using Wedges
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination if negative/equivocal)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (mask required if exempt)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
- Radiation badge required for Radiation Therapists; will be provided by the facility
- Completion of facility-specific education modules and compliance training prior to start
- Candidate must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist (for NC travel candidates)
- Must provide professional references as per Aya Healthcare requirements
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Royal Blue (not provided)
- Scheduling: Manager schedules shifts based on clinic needs
- Must be prepared to float between two clinical sites approximately 10 to 30 minutes apart
- Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract to other units or centralized office as needed
- Must comply with all facility policies including confidentiality agreements, tobacco-free campus acknowledgment, and hospital policies
- Candidates must complete all required competency exams and certifications as applicable
