Certified Surgical Technologist / Operating Room (CST/ORT)

Travel Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (5 days, 8 hours per day)
Job Summary
- Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients.
- Prepare patient skin for surgery following hospital standards.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for breaches.
- Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients.
- Transport and position patients for surgery.
- Identify and care for biological specimens.
- Prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgical case.
- Establish and maintain sterile field; pass instruments and sutures to the physician.
- Use physician preference cards to set up cases and keep them updated.
- Work effectively as part of the surgical team.
- Maintain a safe environment by following technical and aseptic practices.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment care.
- Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety.
- Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control and OR sanitation policies.
- Follow facility policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
- Adapt patient care to meet population-specific and developmental needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Surgical Technologist experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to proficiently scrub in at least 3 specialty areas, including but not limited to Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
- Ability to maintain and update physician preference cards.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
- Competency in maintaining a safe and controlled surgical environment.
