Radiation Therapist Travel Job - New Mexico

Job Summary

Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed, following established practices and standards. Duties include reviewing prescriptions and diagnoses, preparing treatment equipment, maintaining records, assisting in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during treatment.

  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Day shift)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed radiation therapy accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare treatment room and equipment according to Radiation Oncologist’s prescription.
  • Maintain patient communication and explain procedures clearly.
  • Observe and report any unusual patient reactions or treatment complications.
  • Assist patients with mobility and comfort needs.
  • Maintain treatment charts, dosages, and documentation accurately.
  • Perform simulation and dosimetry procedures, including tumor localization and treatment film approval.
  • Fabricate treatment devices such as lead shielding blocks.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols for patients and staff.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and departmental meetings.
  • Rotate on-call and weekend duties as scheduled.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and treatment errors promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adapt care approach for adult and geriatric patients considering their specific needs.

Required Qualifications

Education and Licenses

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in New Mexico
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
