Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Travel)
Location: Longview, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 8 PM – 8 AM
Start Date: ASAP
Option: Temp-to-perm possibility
Schedule: Blocked schedule possibility if needed
Job Summary
Provide independent nursing care in an Emergency Department or similar clinical setting (e.g., free-standing ER, ER code, ER urgent care). Deliver routine and complex care, manage clinical contingencies, and delegate tasks appropriately.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care following the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Meet applicable leadership competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
Position Requirements
- Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
- New hires will be precepted by a trained staff member and must complete organizational and Emergency Department-specific competency validations.
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program with documented skills and competency completion.
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
Work Schedule & Type
- Full-time, night shift (8 PM – 8 AM).
