Description
Travel Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit
Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Must have ICU experience; traveler will float between Stepdown, ICU, and Medical-Surgical units
- Patient ratio approximately 1:4-5
- Care for 21 beds with non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene
- Manage patients with vascular procedures (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, post cardiac catheterization with intervention
- Provide care for CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no Presidex)
- Experience with Peritoneal Dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high flow oxygen (<80%), home ventilators (Trilogy)
- Wound care, nebulizer treatments, and hemodialysis in the dialysis department
- Use of EMR system Meditech
- Floating required across multiple units
- Dress code: scrubs royal blue and white
- Orientation every Wednesday
- Every other week (EOW) requirement applies
- Must live within a 50-mile radius of the facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 1 year of Stepdown experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Criminal background check within 6 months (if signed before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (if signed on/after 12/14/25)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of position
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters or declination)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series; declination form if negative)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD)
- TB questionnaire required for positive responders and all units except Respiratory Therapy and ER
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 6 months (before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (on/after 12/14/25); instant tests not accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required year-round
- COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required
Documentation and Training
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
- Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
- Completion of approximately 81 Relias program modules prior to first shift and orientation (may log up to 8 hours for orientation)
- Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or altered images)
Additional Notes
- Floating across multiple units is mandatory
- Patient care involves complex cardiac and respiratory interventions
- Must be prepared for night shift work with 12-hour shifts, 3 times per week
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not required
