Description

Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location

Frankfort, Kentucky

Travel assignment
Contract length: 13 weeks
Hours per week: 36

Unit Information

Unit: 4th Floor Med/Surg, 46 beds
Patient ratio: 6:1
Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurse), RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks (staffing based on patient census)
Equipment used: GE Apex Pro Telemetry box, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals machine, Glucometer
Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
Scheduling: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts per week
Floating: May float to post-surgical med/surg unit or PCU for telemetry overflow
Procedures performed: telemetry monitoring, paracentesis

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
BLS certification
Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be renewed annually)

Chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains
Post-dialysis assessment skills
Central line care
Blood transfusions
EKG interpretation
CPAP management
Port access

Dress code: Navy blue or gray scrubs; no royal blue scrubs allowed (reserved for OB/LD unit); scrub jackets and long sleeve shirts under scrub tops allowed in any color or pattern

Patient Experience Requirement

At least two years of med/surg experience to meet patient care standards
