Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Indianapolis, Indiana

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification
Experience
- Minimum 18 months recent ICU experience required
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS Level III, education verification, and international search if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official transcript or diploma verifying education
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start date (specific respirators approved)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start date (amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles): positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Mumps: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Hepatitis B: series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: strongly recommended (preferred but not required)
- Tuberculosis screening within 1 year of start (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) with chest x-ray if positive
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31); declinations not accepted
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (not required for RRTs)
- Unit competency exam required
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years (supervisor/manager level)
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days; must cover last 7 years
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of mandatory RRT modules prior to orientation (deadline: Friday before start week, 9 AM PST)
- Completion of facility-specific compliance, confidentiality, policy, and orientation documents prior to start
- Acknowledgement of HIPAA and safety manuals
- Completion of Look of Assurance packet prior to start
- Some floating between multiple campuses required
Additional Notes
- Indiana RN travelers will not be allowed to work at these facilities after 11/30/2024, except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers.
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with prior approval.
- PAPR respirators are facility-approved and available on-site at certain campuses.
- Candidates will be paid for time spent completing mandatory modules.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists comfortable with ICU settings, flexible scheduling including every other weekend, and working across multiple hospital locations. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
