X-Ray Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week (Friday-Sunday), 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12 hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Must have experience working in Operating Room (OR) and Fluoroscopy (Fluro)
- On-call rotation required with staff
- Must be available to work one holiday per 13-week contract (rotated with staff)
- Epic electronic health record experience preferred
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Work settings include Adult Acute Care, Outpatient, bedside/portable, Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Pediatric ICU (PICU), and OR
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in Virginia
- Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Radiology Technologist
- Active ARRT(R) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only)
- X-Ray Technician experience
Experience Requirements
- Prior travel experience: Not accepted (first-time travelers not accepted)
- Locals: Not accepted (must meet radius rule criteria)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with an address more than 100 miles from the facility required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, completed within 1 year of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually (acceptable masks: 1860S, 1860, 1870+1804S)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year, updated annually; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu seasonal vaccination documentation or signed declination form required during flu season
- Two clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Annual skills checklist update required
- Professional photo for badge required (plain background, no selfies or filters)
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements within 48 hours of signing
- Orientation Safety Manual review and acknowledgment required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, and certified stroke center
- Patient population and work settings are diverse, including critical care and pediatric units
- Call-off policy allows facility to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
This position is ideal for experienced X-Ray Technologists with strong fluoroscopy and OR experience who have completed prior travel contracts and hold the necessary certifications and licenses.
