Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Reidsville, North Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) rotation, holidays as needed
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Float required; travelers may be floated between multiple facilities.
  • Patient population includes acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients.
  • Common patient diagnoses:
    • Acute/chronic respiratory illness
    • Post-op general surgery, gynecological surgery, total knee and hip replacements
    • Orthopedics, acute and chronic pain
    • Active GI bleeding, congestive heart failure (CHF)/pulmonary edema
    • Diabetes (hyper- and hypoglycemic conditions), renal failure, drug overdose
  • Patients with Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) score below 7.
  • Care excludes patients who are suicidal, have arrhythmia, radioactive therapy, uncontrolled/new onset seizures.
  • Stable COVID-19 patients included.
  • IV medication drips administered may include Heparin and TNA.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security card for badge issuance.
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal, federal court, sex offender, and education verification.
  • Transcript or diploma for highest nursing education required.
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history.
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years through a third-party vendor.
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months).
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, floating policy acknowledgment, contractor equipment acknowledgment, dress code review, and job description acknowledgment.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
  • Pass/Fail testing acknowledgment for EPIC and Dysrhythmia/EKG exams.

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted.
  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
  • Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date.
  • Candidates must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements prior to clearance (no selfies, hats, masks, or altered backgrounds).
  • Candidates must complete Workday login and onboarding tasks before arrival.
  • Float policy applies to all agency staff regardless of unit or facility.

Patient Care Environment

  • Care provided on a medical-surgical telemetry unit.
  • Exposure to a variety of acute and chronic conditions requiring telemetry monitoring.
