Occupational Therapist - Contract Position
Location: Bozeman, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide occupational therapy services by implementing therapy programs for patients referred to the system and delivering health and wellness education.
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Every other weekend
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours
- On-call duties may be required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Montana
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hospital (inpatient/outpatient) occupational therapy experience
Essential Job Functions
- Evaluate physical and functional status including muscle groups, motor function, upper extremity function, ADLs, coordination, and neurological status
- Develop and implement treatment plans including manual therapy, modalities, therapeutic exercise, and splinting fabrication/modifications
- Prepare and instruct therapeutic exercise and home programs
- Document evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, daily treatments, education, and discharge summaries in compliance with policies
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on pain management, safety, function, and individualized care plans
- Identify and address patient safety issues
- Perform Functional Capacity Evaluations, Work Screens, and Driver evaluations (if trained)
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers for education and treatment planning
Physical Requirements
- Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds
- Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Occasionally climb stairs or ladders
- Frequently twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach above shoulder level, push, and pull
- Continuous fine finger movements and close visual acuity required
- Cognitive ability to learn new tasks, maintain focus, and make timely decisions
Work Environment and Exposures
- Continuous exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation (in imaging areas), chemicals, medications, cleaning products, disinfectants, and infectious diseases
- Emotionally challenging situations involving distressed patients or difficult family interactions
Additional Information
- Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
- Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
Summary
This contract role is ideal for an experienced Occupational Therapist with hospital experience who holds Montana licensure and BLS certification, is comfortable working a day shift schedule with weekend rotations, and can manage a physically demanding and emotionally challenging healthcare environment.
