Description

Certified Surgical Technologist - OR

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Function as the scrub person in the operating room under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
  • Ensure a safe OR environment, proper equipment function, and conduct procedures maximizing patient safety.
  • Apply expertise in surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and use of tools/technologies during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare case carts according to preference cards and interpret these cards to procure instruments and supplies.
  • Communicate with OR staff and sterile processing to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.
  • Review daily schedules with charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential turnover delays or scheduling issues.
  • Manage core communications, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and lunches.
  • Serve as a resource for sterile processing and surgical services departments regarding supply and instrumentation needs.
  • Coordinate with materials management on supply utilization and deployment.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a military surgical technologist program equivalent to a formal program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Additional Information

  • Must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered.
  • Shift: 40 hours per week, variable shifts including call.
  • Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances.
